Waitematā serves the areas of North Shore, Waitakere, and Rodney extending to Wellsford in the north and as far south as the Auckland Harbour Bridge, incorporating Whangaparaoa in the east and the west coast beaches of Muriwai, Piha and Karekare in the west.
Waitematā employs approximately 6,800 people in more than 30 different locations and serves approximately 630,000 people making it the largest population of all New Zealand's Districts.
