Senior Social Worker North Island Sarcoma Service

About the Role
The North Island Sarcoma Senior Social Worker will be an experienced practitioner who will develop expertise in the specialty area of sarcoma. As a key member of the North Island Sarcoma service, you will contribute to service development and foster strong connections with local and regional services to enhance access, coordination, and equity of care across the North Island. You will also work collaboratively with the wider North Island Sarcoma Service multidisciplinary team members to develop and maintain high quality service delivery in line with operational and strategic direction.
This role involves working with patients diagnosed with sarcoma across the North Island, with surgical management overseen at Te Toka Tumai. The role focuses on providing client/family/whānau-centred care within an interdisciplinary team. The service supports patients across the cancer continuum, from diagnosis through to survivorship and palliative care.
About the Team/Service/ Location
This is a busy and rewarding area to work in; You will be part of a varied interdisciplinary health team working in the North Island Sarcoma service, with a focus on regional patients. The role is based at Te Toka Tumai, Auckland City Hospital. In addition, you will operationally report to the Clinical Support Directorate, where you will have the support of a large physical health social work service.

About you
As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- A recognised Social Work qualification with full registration with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board and a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Demonstrated experience in service development, evaluation, and research to support continuous improvement and innovation
- Sound clinical reasoning and professional judgement at the level of an experienced practitioner within the sarcoma care context
- Support resource development to enhance psychosocial care capacity across the North Island sarcoma network
- Act as a mentor and advisor for others supporting clinical reasoning and clinical practice
- Be a key point of consultation for internal and external stakeholders, enhancing psychosocial care capacity across the wider sarcoma cancer network.
- Demonstrates a contribution to the continuum of care by working in partnership with clients, key stakeholders, and agencies
- A full, clean class 1 driver’s licence
