An exciting opportunity for a registered Social Worker or Registered Nurse to join the Haumaru Whānau team to support the Family Harm program in Te Matua a Maui – Hawkes Bay

About the Role
As the Family Harm Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
- Responsibly managing, developing and maintain the Health NZ Hawke’s Bay Violence Intervention Programmes (VIP)
- Supporting healthcare professionals to identify family harm risk and respond accordingly
- Developing and delivering training to health professionals in Hastings, Napier, Central Hawkes Bay and Wairoa
- Building networks to produce better outcomes for individuals and their whānau, hapū and Iwi
- Developing equitable Family Harm programmes and organisational policies to support healthcare professionals
- Auditing and reporting as required by Health New Zealand, Service Specifications and the Ministry of Health
- Supporting the Haumaru Whānau Team in the development of a coordinated response to social harms including child abuse/protection, family wellbeing and suicide prevention
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Haumaru Whānau Team works across Te Matua a Maui – Hawkes Bay to support clinicians around Family Harm, Child Protection and Family Wellbeing. Our programmes include responses to family harm, child abuse and neglect, early intervention for vulnerable pregnant women. We are proud of our service’s diverse portfolios and work closely to support each other in this challenging field alongside the clinicians across Health NZ – Te Matau a Maui site providing support and clinical care.
This role covers the Hastings, Napier, Central Hawkes Bay and Wairoa sites although you will primarily be based in Hastings.

About you
- You will be an experienced Registered Social Worker or Registered Nurse with passion and skills around family harm and making a difference to our community
- You will be comfortable in developing and delivering education to healthcare clinicians both in large group and individual settings
- You will be friendly, positive and able to support others to grow and develop in their practice and skills around Family Harm and Child Protection
- You will be focused on improving outcomes for Māori, Pasifika and vulnerable populations in Te Matua-a Maui Hawkes Bay
