The Opportunity:
The Chronic Pain Service at Counties Manukau District is seeking a Health or Clinical Psychologist to join their team. At Counties Manukau, psychologists collaborate as part of multidisciplinary teams to provide psychological assessments and interventions for clients. They also offer various services to support the development and function of the teams and the organization as a whole. These include, but are not limited to, case consultation, staff training and supervision, leadership, involvement in service development, and research and evaluation activities.
The Chronic Pain Service Clinic offers assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services for individuals with chronic pain. With a strong interdisciplinary approach, the service provides multidisciplinary assessments, both individual and group interventions, and pain management programs for chronic pain sufferers in South Auckland.
This role involves delivering group psychological assessments and treatment for Chronic Pain Service patients, including, when appropriate, involving their family/whānau. Common interventions used by the chronic pain team psychologists include individual therapy (often focusing on CBT or ACT), therapeutic and psycho-educational groups, behaviour management, and case consultation.
Clinic days are Tuesday and Wednesday, so the applicant must be available on these days.
Essential:
- Registration or eligibility to be registered with the NZ Psychologist Board in a general or clinical scope
- Ability to obtain an annual practicing certificate with the NZ Psychologist Board
- A minimum 12 months practical experience
- A full clean driver’s licence
