Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our theatre midwifery team whose focus is the delivery of an excellent birthing experience for pregnant people who require operative births.
Our Theatre Midwives work AM and PM shifts across our maternity floor from Monday to Friday. They have a focus on enabling the timely provision of both elective and emergency caesarean sections, but the role is sufficiently variable to enable you to practice across your scope. You will receive additional education and orientation relevant to working in the operating theatre environment.
Maternity Service Perspective
- The maternity service across the district provides care to 5,000 birthing people per annum. Primary care is provided at all facilities. Secondary care is provided at Wellington Regional hospital and Hutt hospital. Wellington Regional hospital provides tertiary care to the central region. All Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley facilities are Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) accredited. The district is supported by community midwifery teams with outreach clinics in each locality.
