Allied Health Assistant

- Based at the Waikato Hospital with shifts occurring at the rural and community bases
- Casual position, Monday to Friday with some possible weekend shifts.
Are you passionate about making a difference in people's lives? Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a dedicated and flexible Allied Health Assistant to join our team on a casual basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the well-being of our community. The role would be based at Waikato Hospital, with many shifts occurring there, but would also cover our rural hospitals and community bases. As this is a casual position, hours would vary week to week, including up to 40 hours per week on occasion. Hours of work typically are between 7:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday with some possible weekend shifts.

About the Role
- Assist registered allied health clinicians with patient interventions.
- Helping patients to regain their independence with activities of daily living following medical illness/surgery
- Ordering of equipment such as walking aids and exercise equipment
- Perform administrative tasks
- Undertake group patient activities when required
- Setting up of equipment and equipment cleaning

Allied Health is a department of the Waikato district that provides Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Dietetic, Audiology & New Born Hearing screening, Social Work, and Psychology services. Our Allied Health Assistants play a crucial role in supporting these allied health professionals. We are a very welcoming team and provide a supportive work environment.

- a current full NZ drivers licence
- prior experience in a healthcare setting would be beneficial
- Flexibility around work demands, ideally able to work throughout the year
- Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
