Our Rheumatology Service is primarily an outpatient service for rheumatology referrals from general practice, although we also manage some acute inpatient cases.

We are currently seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Rheumatology for a 0.8 FTE position.

This role is designed to provide advanced nursing care for patients with rheumatic chronic diseases, including complex patient assessments, management, patient education, and the development of nurse-led clinics. The successful candidate will play a key role in the ongoing development of the Rheumatology Service, including setting up new protocols, managing biologic therapies, providing education for subcutaneous therapies, coordinating day-stay infusions, and supporting new therapies as they emerge. The role also involves supporting complex patients, contributing to clinical pathways, educational initiatives, and mentoring staff. Additionally, the appointee will be expected to assist with staff training, review practice standards, maintain documentation, and address any related issues.

The ideal candidate will work closely with senior medical and nursing staff in the Rheumatology Service. We are looking for an experienced nurse with a background in rheumatology or medical practice, and ideally, with post-graduate qualifications. Applicants should be recognized for their positive, dynamic approach to teaching, resource development, and the monitoring of nursing practice to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert clinical advice that directly influences the practice of rheumatology nursing.
