Medical Laboratory Technician
- Christchurch - Canterbury Health Laboratories
- 0.8 FTE - 32 hours per week (Wednesday to Saturday, with a rotating roster which includes day shift and evening shift)

About the Role
Canterbury Health Laboratories is the largest medical laboratory in the South Island and is a secondary/tertiary referral centre. Our laboratory is open 24 hours a day, providing timely results to our clinicians to ensure our patients are getting the right treatment, at the right time.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Virology/Serology department is proud of its status as a leading-edge specialist laboratory providing diagnostic testing utilising molecular and immunoassay techniques on automated platforms. The department operates from 6am till midnight, 7 days per week.
About you
We are looking for applicants with experience in molecular virology and/or infectious serology but will consider applicants from other specialties. You must be registered (or eligible for registration) with the New Zealand Medical Laboratory Sciences Council and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail. In addition, you will possess effective time management skills and be able to work independently.
- Registered with the Medical Science Council as a Medical Laboratory Technician
- Prior experience in a diagnostic medical laboratory
- Molecular virology and/or serology experience is highly desirable
- Adaptability and flexibility to work across different areas of the laboratory and different shifts
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
