Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki ēnei mahi (About these positions)
We have a full-time permanent position available, working 80 hours a fortnight (1.0 FTE), within our surgical ward which has a strong Orthopaedic, Gynaecology and Otolaryngology focus in an acute and elective environment.
You will be working across AM, PM shifts rostered Monday to Sunday as follows:
- AM: 7.00AM to 3.30PM
- PM: 2.45PM to 11.15PM
- Mid shift: 1100AM to 7.30PM
- Night: 10/45PM to 7.15AM
We practice in a collaborative patient partnership model of care to achieve best outcomes for our patients/families and whānau. As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, one-to-one patient watches and other tasks as directed.

We are looking for individuals with a mature outlook and proven ability to communicate in a clear, considerate manner with genuine compassion. They will also have the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrate honesty and reliability, and use appropriate initiative.
Experience within the health sector is preferred, but is not essential as full training will be provided.
Qualifications
Essential
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
- NZQA level 3 qualification (or equivalent)*
Desirable
- Home Carer Certificate (or equivalent)
Mandatory requirement
*NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, is to be commenced once orientations have been attended.
