Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This is a part-time role: 0.72 FTE (28.8 Hours per week)
Auckland City Hospital, part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand, Te Toka Tumai is responsible for providing secondary and tertiary care to patients from around the country and our neighbouring Pacific Islands. Our Adult Emergency Department (AED) is one of two major trauma centres serving the Auckland region. The hospital serves a population of approximately 500,000 and also provides specialised treatment for patients from other centres in New Zealand and the Pacific region with approximately 80,000 patients a year coming through our doors, there is never a dull day with the high index of disease severity.
Our AED has an excellent faculty with expertise in resuscitation, trauma, disaster, pre-hospital medicine, helicopter emergency medical services, research, and clinical toxicology. We are accredited by the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine for Emergency Medicine training and are affiliated with the Auckland University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Our services are actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education incorporating both clinical and university-based teaching with a focus on a number of key national and international research projects.
We are currently looking for an Emergency Medicine Specialist to join our service, utilising your skills and experience in enhancing our diverse unit.

As an ideal candidate, you will:
· Be a medical practitioner vocationally registered with the New Zealand Medical Council.
· Be a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or an equivalent overseas institution.
