Permanent part time role available
48 hours per fortnight (0.6FTE)
We are looking for Rehabilitation Assistants to join our friendly team. Hoki ki te Kāinga is an early supported discharge team who support people in their own homes. You would mainly be working with older adults who are recovering from an illness, injury or surgery. You will be dealing in the business of people every day so communication, patience and empathy should be high on your list of attributes.
If successful, you would provide relationship centred support and rehabilitation at home, to help people recover from their hospital stay in an environment that is familiar and meaningful to them. You would use a restorative model to help people increase their independence in activities of daily living, with the goal of returning to their previous level of function. The rehabilitation is under the delegation of a registered health practitioner and includes activities such as walking, dressing, showering, meal preparation and exercise programmes, among many others. You would work with whānau to enable them to take an active role in helping their loved one recover.
Ideally, we are looking for people with experience in the Health and Disability sector. However, this could be an entry level role for the right person.
Roles are available on a permanent basis and pay rates include penal rates for weekends and statutory holidays worked, as well as extra leave allowance for shift work and statutory holidays worked. A clean drivers license is essential.
