- 2x Permanent part-time 0.7-0.8FTE (56-64 hours a fortnight)

The salary for this position is based on the current Senior Medical and Dental Officer collective agreement dependent on skills, experience, and vocational registration in NZ. SECA | ASMS
In addition to your salary, you will:
- Receive a generous annual allowance to cover your continued medical education expenses (including associated travel and accommodation costs) as well as paid time off to attend events including international conferences.
- Have access to an employer matched Superannuation contribution of up to 6% of annual earnings.

The successful candidate will:
- Deliver quality services to improve health of the population in Nelson Marlborough District.
- Participate in the Ophthalmology roster with on-call
- Be part of the busy contemporary ophthalmology service and provide a wide range of general ophthalmology care, supported by a multidisciplinary team including ophthalmologists (with general and specialist training), specialty nurses, orthoptists, optometrists, and technicians.
- Supervise and participate in teaching of junior medical workforce.
- Enjoy working and living in one of New Zealand - s most sought-after regions.
The position will be based at Nelson Hospital, however, you will be covering district-wide service.
Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
The ideal applicant will:
- Bring their medical expertise and experience to improve health in Nelson Marlborough District.
- Ability to work independently as a specialist in a provincial district
- Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists or equivalent.
- Be eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Ophthalmology with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary team to promote a cohesive team culture of collaborative practice, openness, humour, and respect across disciplines.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development and quality improvement.
