Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Come and join our supportive, dynamic and flexible nursing team working together to provide quality care to all patients within the Midland region. This is an excellent opportunity to advance your nursing skills within a supportive environment. Our Critical Care unit, combining ICU and HDU is a 28 bed acute and elective unit that provides a stimulating and challenging environment in which to develop or enhance your nursing skills.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Delivery of ICU and HDU level nursing care to adults (HDU) and adults and children (ICU)
- Work alongside and as part of the wider Critical Care team
- Commitment to completing our in-house Education programme

The Critical Care Department comprises of a 12 bed High Dependency Unit (HDU) and a 16 bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). HDU cares for both elective and acute patients. Both units are state of the art, and provides an excellent opportunity to work in a progressive and motivated environment with the latest technology. We are at the centre of a regional referral network across the middle of the North Island, with all the related trauma and air retrieval activities that go along with that. The medical and nursing teams are supportive, dynamic and flexible, working together to provide quality care to all patients within the Midland region.

Mōu | About you
- Current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate
- Previous experience in acute care, ICU-HDU
- Intensive care qualification desirable, but not essential
- Previous experience in a nursing role with a patient centric approach.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Good level of computer literacy.
- A high degree of self-motivation, willingness, and self-responsibility to continually improve and remain current with nursing skills and knowledge.
- High levels of professionalism with an enthusiastic, proactive, flexible approach.
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
