2024 Training Year – Obstetrics and Gynaecology Advanced Training and Subspecialty Fellowships

Overview:
These fellowship positions are intended for trainees who have completed their RANZCOG core training.  They offer general O&G training at a senior level whilst developing an area of special interest/ sub-specialty.  They include opportunities for professional development to facilitate completion of specialist training and preparation to becoming vocationally registered and a practicing O&G Specialist.  This may include developing and leading the teaching of the junior medical staff, assistance with their training and roster co-ordination, audit and guideline development. A research project is also encouraged during this year. 

We currently have the following position available for the 2024 training year...

Counties Manukau Health District – Minimal Access Surgery fellowship.
This fellowship position is intended for trainees who have completed their RANZCOG core training. The position will offer general O&G training at a senior level whilst developing the area of special interest in minimal Assess Surgery (MAS). The position will also provide opportunities for professional development to facilitate completion of specialist training and preparation to becoming vocationally registered and a practicing O&G Specialist. 

This is a one-year position in a busy Obstetrics and Gynaecology Service. The position will include the opportunity to practice as the senior doctor in the acute team with available back-up from an Senior Medical Officer (SMO) to assist the transition from trainee to specialist. This position focuses on developing skills in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery and is suitable to complete the RANZCOG minimal access advanced training module (ATM) in a busy tertiary unit in New Zealand. As part of the position, the successful candidate will be involved in teaching, including simulated laparoscopic surgery, and undertake a research project in an aspect of minimal access surgery. It is expected that this will lead to publications in peer reviewed journals and presentation at relevant scientific and clinical meetings.
