Medical Staffing Coordinator | Greymouth

Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Medical Staffing Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless delivery of health services in Te Tai o Poutini. We are seeking a dedicated individual for our team, who will be responsible for the coordination of all aspects of medical staffing and training. This role is crucial in maintaining the quality of healthcare provided to our community.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Scheduling the medical staffing roster, including the use of locums when necessary.
  • Coordinating and communicating RMO and SMO training.
  • Providing support to Postgraduate GP trainees and Rural Hospital Medicine trainees, including orientation.
  • Coordinating educational opportunities and enabling attendance of rostered staff through careful rostering.
  • Maintaining excellent communication with agencies and RMO units to facilitate access to health professionals.
  • Proactively liaising with the GM to address concerns and ensure timely resolution.
  • Providing high-quality, accurate, and timely rostering to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with medical staff employment contracts.
  • Assisting with CV reviews of candidates to support recruitment decisions.
  • Developing emergency cover arrangements when required.
  • Managing travel and accommodation bookings for rostered staff.
  • Staying current with Medical Council requirements and restrictions.

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience of working within a Te Ao Māori environment and understanding Tikanga Māori, and/or experience working within a bicultural context with diverse communities and/or organizations.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team.
  • Proven experience working under pressure and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Methodical and detail-oriented coordination skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience within an administrative unit, preferably within a health setting.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Experience in project coordination.
