Clinical Engineering Technologist, Te Whatu Ora- Health Technology Management Operations- Counties Manukau

The Health Technology Management Operations at Counties Manukau (Clinical Engineering) provides a health technology consultancy and medical equipment maintenance support service to several departments across Te Whatu mainly within the Counties Manukau District. These services extend to several hospitals and outpatient clinics within the district. We are a team of 37 professional, including Clinical Engineering- Manager, Operational & Equipment Manager, -ICT & Contracts Manager, -Programme & Project Manager and Advisors -Team Leaders, -Technologists, - Technicians, - Technician Trainees and -Technician Assistants.
Based between Middlemore Hospital and Manukau Super Clinic, we are looking for an enthusiastic, talented and professional Clinical Engineering Technologist to join our team. You will be required to carry out a variety of clinical engineering functions, such as acceptance testing and commissioning-, performance and safety verification testing-, corrective and preventative maintenance-, decommissioning and disposal- of medical equipment.
You will have oversight and responsibility to upkeep and maintain equipment across multiple service and sites. You will be responsible to providing the allocated areas (i.e. Anaesthetics, Theatres, PACU, Gastroenterology, etc.) with clinical engineering consultancy support service with regards to health technology management functions. You will also be required to mentor and support technicians, trainees and assistants with the aim to develop their skills and knowledge in the areas of Clinical Engineering.
You will report to the Clinical Engineering Team Leader Anaesthetics/Theatres/Gastro/MSC and provide assistance and support to the Clinical Engineering -Manager, -Operational & Equipment Manager, -ICT & Contracts Manager, -Programme & Project Manager and Advisors -Team Leaders, and –Technologists.
You may be required to work at a number sites within Auckland region therefore a full and current NZ Driver’s Licence is essential. This is a full time position working Monday to Friday.
Essential:
- Diploma in Electronics or Electrical Engineering and/or Clinical Engineering
- Current Electrical Appliance Serviceperson (EAS) Practicing Licence
- Minimum 5 years relevant clinical engineering experience (i.e. Anaesthetics, Theatres, PACU, Gastroenterology and general)
- Good electro-mechanical aptitude and skills
- Good communication and Interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop, document and implement procedures and protocols
- Ability to solve problems and develop a good rapport with clinical services
- Ability to train and mentor staff
- Takes initiative to improve systems and process in line with CE Service’s vision and objectives.
- Is a self-starter and self-motivated.
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office (particularly in MS Excel, Word & Outlook)
