Maternity Care Assistants for Midwifery Students - (Te Toka Tumai)

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Maternity care assistants will support the midwifery team to provide care across in-patient areas within the boundaries of their scope of practice, whilst buddied at all times with a midwife.
This is a great opportunity to gain additional experience and get to know the facility and the team whilst being able to choose when you work. Please refer to the position description for more details about the role.
Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for Student Midwives with the ability to relate well to others, work collaboratively with the team and who will take the initiative to go out of their way to assist our women.
To be successful for the role:
- Midwifery students: You must be a 3rd or a 4th year Midwifery student.
- To be able to meet the physical demands of the role
- To be flexible and reliable
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team
- Support teamwork within Women’s Health
- Report concerns of safety for the women and /or baby immediately to the Clinical Charge Midwife.
