  • Do you want to help transform the healthcare system?
  • Are you passionate about improving mental health services?
  • Are you confident interacting with Tāngata whai i te ora , to support us, to deliver better services?

The Lived Experience Advisor position at Adult Mental Health Services is presently open and we are looking for an exceptional candidate.

Te Whatu Ora Waitematā Specialist Mental Health Services provides support to the communities of North and West Auckland and the Rodney District, a population of over 600,000.

Dedicated to the delivery of public health care, Waitemata DHB is committed to “best care for everyone” - to the individual, their family-whānau, the community and iwi, and the healthcare workforce.

About the role:

‘The role of the Lived Experience Advisor’ would suit someone with personal lived experience of Mental Health issues and recovery as it involves giving your opinion, based on your own experience (in using mental health services) and from your knowledge (what you know about people’s experience of using mental health services.)

In order to support the design, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of our services, the Lived Experience Advisor role will take a lead in gathering and evaluating Tāngata whai i te ora voices.

To ensure that Tāngata whai i te ora have a strong voice and engagement across all areas of Adult Mental Health Services, the Lived Experience Advisor will also collaborate with our clinical and leadership teams on quality improvement initiatives, and actively engage and liaise with NGO (non- government agencies) networks and community organisations.
