Bone Marrow Transplant Co-ordinator

Nurse Specialist Leukaemia
- Be part of New Zealand’s largest hospital and the Regional Cancer and Blood service
- Provide active and supportive Haematology care to patients within the Northern Region Catchment Area
- Permanent and fixed term nursing positions available in the Bone Marrow Transplant office
The Haematology Service at Auckland City Hospital is comprised of a 30 bed inpatient unit including 14 bone marrow transplantation (BMT) beds, a Haematology Day Stay Unit and outpatient clinics. The regional BMT service covers Northland and the greater Auckland region for autologous and allograft transplants and includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes and Tairawhiti DHB’s for allogeneic transplants.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated and innovative Registered Nurses for the role of BMT Coordinator in BMT office Haematology, Auckland City Hospital. Both permanent and fixed term opportunities available.
As the BMT Coordinator you will have strong interpersonal and organisational skills, be able to work collaboratively and innovatively with the BMT to maximise health care delivery, enhance faster treatment outcomes and promote clinical excellence.
You will be responsible to work collaboratively with the senior nurses within the bone marrow transplant team to streamline the pre transplant work up phase for both recipients and donors. This will improve the continuity of care during transplant and the communication and education of patients and whanau.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
- A commitment to biculturalism

- RGN; RGON; RPN; RCpN with or without BN or BHSC (Nursing)
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)
- Evidence of competence to practice within the Registered Nurse scope of practice
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
- Minimum Level 3 practice
- Specialty knowledge and practice expertise
- Postgraduate certificate / diploma in specialty nursing practice
- Working towards completion of Master’s degree in nursing or health related area
- Knowledge of quality improvement processes and principles
- A personal commitment to on-going learning and development
- Chemotherapy certified
