We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in Auckland, regional services for Northland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre, and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.
We are part of Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. Te Whatu Ora leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Health and Safety professional to make their mark within a huge organisation where no two days are the same. This critical position sits within the Facilities and Development team and will be responsible for promoting, engaging, and influencing health and safety. You will play a key role in driving the improvement in safety culture working with our large (maintenance and construction) subcontractor workforce across our sites.

As the H&S Manager you will possess a well-developed ability to work professionally with a range of internal and external stakeholders and be able to influence the continuous improvement of our safety culture at all levels. You will develop and implement strategies and policies that will help achieve our goal of being the best at what we do! Your knowledge of effective contractor management, current legislation, and audit standards, and H&S best practice will be paramount.
You will also need to be fully conversant with NZ's H&S legislation (including the HSWA Asbestos Regulations 2016) with proven practical experience of at least 7 years in a similar environment. For all aspects of this role and experience/knowledge required please see the position description here.
