Security / Orderly - Emergency Department

Up to 80 hours per fortnight
This role has been developed specifically to meet the needs of the Emergency Department (ED) at Hawke’s Bay. The Security Orderly role is to primarily provide onsite security within the ED and maintain a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors.
Another aspect of the role includes safe transport of patients between ED and radiology as well as occasionally to other areas of the hospital depending on the Clinical Nurse Manager or Clinical Nurse Coordinators needs. The role also involves assisting nursing and healthcare assistants with patient transport from ambulance stretcher to the ED Bed. This is a varied role that requires good customer care skills, maturity, an ability to de-escalate stressful situations, be empathetic and have a strong work ethic. You will need to be physically fit, as it is a physically demanding role.
This role reports operationally to the ED Clinical Nurse Manager and Professionally to the Security and Orderly Manager.
Duties:
- Provide site security and maintain a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors.
- Transfer patients between radiology and ED if the Radiology orderly is too busy
- Move items of equipment and specimens throughout the hospital as required
Skills & Experience:
- Good customer care skills, professionalism and a high standard of personal presentation
- Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Can pass a full police vetting
