Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We are seeking Registered Nurses to fill vacancies and can offer both permanent, temporary and casual roles. Endoscopy nursing is a rewarding and stimulating career that encompasses a diverse work environment and the opportunity to gain a vast range of desirable skills and experience.
You will be trained to work in both our pre and post-procedure area, preparing patients for their endoscopy, and caring for them while they recover afterwards. Further training will also be provided to enable you to work independently in the procedure rooms, assisting with endoscopic procedures.

Endoscopy is a procedure that enables the examiner (either a gastroenterologist/general surgeon/respiratory specialist or nurse endoscopist) to examine the gastro-intestinal tract, lungs and other organs using a thin, flexible tube. This tube is called an endoscope and it has a camera on the tip, which transmits images to a monitor for viewing. We offer comprehensive acute and elective secondary and tertiary care gastroenterology services. Interventional endoscopy services are provided regionally and nationally, including ERCP, Spyglass, EUS, POEM, Balloon Enteroscopy, HALO RFA.

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

A minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in an acute care setting

The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and have excellent time management skills

Superb communication skills

Flexibility in your work hours with varied start times to meet service need, including participation in an on-call roster
