Consultant Radiation Oncologist (8 months fixed term)

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking Consultant Radiation Oncologist to cover parental leave.
We are particularly looking for someone with gynaecology brachytherapy experience, or an interest in gynaecology brachytherapy to join our team. We currently offer gynaecology brachytherapy to patients from the lower North Island of New Zealand. Other subsites within this role include breast and lymphoma.
The role includes clinical, research, academic and administration duties, participation in the after-hours on-call roster, and covering clinical services in out of town clinics.
You will be expected to regularly attend multidisciplinary meetings and work closely with our oncology and surgical colleagues.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
The team currently consists of 10 radiation oncologists who are supportive, and dedicated to the provision of an efficient, high quality, patient focused treatment service. We are a very cohesive team, and work collegially with our radiation therapy and medical physics colleagues, which creates a rewarding work environment. We work closely with our oncology and surgical colleagues with multidisciplinary clinics across several sites. We offer HDR brachytherapy for gynaecological, prostate and skin cancers, and a radioactive iodine service for thyroid cancer. We offer stereotactic treatment for brain and lung cancers. Our focus for 2023 is to extend our stereotactic services to other sites.
Wellington is an accredited training facility for radiation oncology registrars, radiation therapists and medical physicists. There is a research unit in the department to support a wide-range of local, national and international studies. We have close links with the University of Otago Medical School and Department of Radiation Therapy, should you wish to get involved.
Moū - About you
- Vocationally registered in Radiation Oncology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRANZCR or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Relevant experience and training
