Under construction is our new Cancer Centre, this purpose-built and designed facility will house a new linear accelerator (LINAC) – which uses radiation to destroy cancer cells while leaving surrounding tissue undamaged - and bring all related oncology outpatient services under one roof.

When commissioned in late 2024, the facility will not only be a 5-star Green Star certified building but will have the latest in modern cancer treatment technologies and user design.

The design for the new Taranaki Cancer Centre includes;

  • LINAC Radiotherapy Unit
  • Ten chairs and two single isolation rooms for chemotherapy
  • Eight outpatient consult rooms with video conferencing capability
  • Restful and appropriate décor wait spaces
  • Whānau facilities
  • Accessible facilities with carer assisted change and toilet rooms
  • Staff offices and amenities

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

 

Taranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth

FTE is negotiable, we invite expressions of interest for part and full time hours.

 

  • Have you considered coming to New Plymouth to join our Medical Oncology team? 
  • Lifestyle balanced with professional enjoyment

 

A vacancy exists for a motivated MOSS to join our local dedicated team of medical and nursing staff to provide chemotherapy and other treatments to the local Taranaki population suffering various forms of cancer.  This position would fill the second MOSS position based locally to deliver the services.

 

The local oncology service is part of the MidCentral Cancer Network with regular Medical Oncologist, Haematologist and Radiation Oncologist visits and support.
