Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)
As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, one-to-one patient watches and other tasks as directed. We practice in a collaborative patient partnership model of care to achieve best outcomes for our patients/families and whānau.
Shifts are rostered and rotating, primarily across AM and PM shifts, rostered Monday to Sunday, with night shifts.
Shift times
- AM: 0700 - 1530
- PM: 1445 - 2315
- Night shifts: 2245 - 0715
Hours available
We have 48 hours per fortnight - 80 hours per fortnight (0.6 FTE - 1 FTE) avaialble and potentially have less hours available for the right candidate. Please indicate your preferred number of hours via your covering letter.
Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
You will have a mature outlook, the ability to get on with a wide variety of people, good information technology (IT) skills (especially with MS Excel and Word) and excellent organisational and communication skills.
You will also have the ability to work in a flexible, confidential and methodical manner, demonstrating honesty and reliability, and will be adaptable to change, use appropriate initiative and respond flexibly to service needs.
Experience within the health sector is essential and additional training will be provided.
Qualifications
Essential
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
- NZQA level 3 qualification (or equivalent)*
Mandatory requirement*NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, is to be commenced once orientations have been attended.
Te Whatu Ora staff must have completed their primary course of NZ approved COVID-19 vaccines as they have direct contact with patients and members of the public.
The full-time equivalent salary range for this position is $51,770 to $61,540 based on the current NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA, (Pay Equity adjusted) dependent on skills, experience & relevant qualifications.
