Consultant Haematologist (0.5 FTE research) (1.0 FTE) 12 months Fixed Term Haematology Department, Te Whatu Ora - Counties Manukau District

Te Whatu Ora - Counties Manukau District is a dynamic and progressive organisation at the forefront of innovative health delivery, working with New Zealand’s most culturally diverse population.  

 

The primary hospital for our district is Middlemore Hospital, an 800 bed teaching hospital providing medical and surgical care to a diverse and rapidly growing population of approximately 600,000 people.  

 

The Haematology department provides diagnosis, specialist consultation and clinical management for patients with the full range of haematological disorders. The department has an in-patient ward, chemotherapy day ward, outpatient clinics, thrombosis service and haematology laboratory and blood bank, all located on-site. An active clinical trial portfolio is run in collaboration with Aotearoa Clinical Trials.  

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Haematologist to join our existing team of 7 haematologists. This position includes 0.5 FTE for dedicated clinical trial research and a key component of the role is advancing clinical research practice within the department.  

 

You’ll be part of our established team and supported by a professional team of nursing, allied health and scientific staff.  

 

Applicants should ideally be Fellows of the Royal College of Physicians of Australasia or equivalent, and eligible for Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Although experience in clinical haematology and research is preferred, recently qualified graduates will be considered.
