Nurse Educator - Mental Health and Addiction Crisis Support

 0.4 FTE (32 Hours per Fortnight)

Fixed term Position (1 year)

We are looking for an inspirational nurse educator with a strong nursing clinical background to promote, facilitate and provide education to Emergency Department (ED) teams in both New Plymouth & Hawera. You will be accountable for developing and delivering nursing education specifically to enhance & support ED staff ensuring safe nursing care practice standards and the best nursing care outcomes.  You will be a strong, credible clinical leader with excellent nursing specialty knowledge and impeccable practice standards.

Could ideally suit someone on part-time looking to increase existing FTE or someone looking for a new direction or to decrease FTE.

Flexible hours within busiest times identified for MH presentations:

  • (Mondays, Fridays and Sundays are a priority)
  • Between 12:00 – 20:00 and 24:00 – 04:00 on weekdays.
  • Between 16:00-20:00 and 24:00 – 04:00 on weekends.

Applicants must have the following:

  • New Zealand Nursing Council registration and current Annual Practising Certificate
  • A relevant Post Graduate Qualification, preferably post graduate diploma level.
  • Minimum 5 years post graduate nursing experience in an acute care setting (preferably Mental Health)
  • An up to date Nursing portfolio at expert level
  • Adult teaching qualification is desirable.
  • Sound understanding of the legislation that underpins nursing practice in New Zealand.
  • Quality Improvement knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the implications of Treaty of Waitangi with a commitment to bi-culturalism.
  • Ability to work in a complex changing environment and able to prioritise multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Be flexible to meet the demands of the service
