Radiation Oncologist
ONCOLOGIST – Radiation Oncology

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
The Cancer and Blood Service at Auckland City Hospital is a large, internationally recognised cancer centre delivering radiation oncology, medical oncology and haematology care. The radiation oncology service is increasing research opportunities across the patient care pathway. The department is involved in clinical trials including from the Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) and the Medical Research Council (MRC) in the UK
A full radiation treatment programme is provided including Paediatric Radiation Oncology, Brachytherapy and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy. In collaboration with the University of Auckland, Auckland City Hospital is recognised for its academic programme and is the largest teaching hospital in New Zealand. There is an active Registrar training Programme with nine Radiation Oncology Registrars.
The successful applicant will join a team of 18 Radiation Oncologists and will be responsible for one or more sub-specialty areas of interest. The department is looking for a Radiation Oncologist with experience and passion in the Paediatric and Central Nervous System tumour streams. The service works in close collaboration with Starship Hospital and is responsible for the North Island Paediatric radiation oncology care. Experience in these alongside VMAT, IGRT and SABR is desirable.
Many of our protocols involve combined radiation and chemotherapy, and we work closely with the medical oncologists and haematologists; who are also based in the service. The successful applicant should demonstrate a strong ability to work in a team environment and providing high quality multi-disciplinary care. A strong academic record, broad experience in Radiation Oncology and interest in research are required. The successful applicant should contribute to improvement initiatives as part of multi-disciplinary team.
