There are exciting opportunities for House Officers to join Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Te Matau a Māui, Hawke’s Bay in full time positions. Applications are invited for the positions of ED House Officers for 2022 from Starting 14 June 2023. As part of our team we’ll support, encourage and help you to develop your career with us. Hawke’s Bay Hospital is a 400-bed hospital providing acute and elective care for the Hawke's Bay region. We have strengthening Primary and Community health services and an increasingly integrated approach to health and health care.
The Emergency Department sees 46,000 attendances a year, with a 30% admission rate. The general patient acuity is high and we see a significant amount of major trauma. The Emergency Department runs 5 observation unit beds. You will join a team of 10 Emergency Physicians, 1 Medical Officer, 15 Registrars, 8 House Officers and 3 Nurse Practitioners. We are accredited for Provisional and Advanced training (12 months) with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and offer a regular and protected teaching programme.
There is a preference for applications from PGY3 and above but we would consider applications from PGY2 for the second half of the training year. 6-month placements are preferred.

Experience and Eligibility
Suitable for Resident Medical Officers who will be PGY3 and above, although we will consider PGY2 applicants to start Starting 14 June 2023.
You will have eligibility for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Information on the process of application for this can be found on their website at http://www.mcnz.org.nz/
You will need to be a NZ or Australian citizen or resident, or have an appropriate visa to be eligible to live and work in NZ. The Immigration NZ website can be found at https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas
