Clinical Nurse Specialist - Children's Outpatients

Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Children-s Outpatients Department based at Christchurch Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Registered Nurse to join their multi-disciplinary team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, with a focus on Paediatric Diabetes.

You will work in collaboration and liaise with whānau (family) and community services to ensure best health outcomes for tamariki (children) and adolescents with diabetes.

Ko wai koe | About You

Ideally you will be an experienced Registered Nurse from a paediatric or general medical background with a keen interest in tamariki (children) and diabetes.

In this role your ability to engage and build positive relationships with a wide range of people of all ages is imperative. You will need to be self-motivated as you will often be working autonomously managing a case load.

Proven ability to provide expert nursing knowledge and clinical leadership working within the wider multi-disciplinary team, and offering support and education to tamariki (children), adolescents and their whānau (family) both within the hospital and community setting.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Experienced NZ Registered Nurse with paediatric or general medical background in child health
  • A commitment to child advocacy and the delivery of quality, whānau (family) focused care
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, effective organisational and time management ability.
  • Professional and mature attitude
  • Hold or be working towards a relevant post graduate certificate or committed to completing a post graduate diploma.
  • Full driver-s licence
