The role is supported by Heads of Department for the key modalities and by other senior staff who undertake specific non-clinical portfolios. It works closely with the Operations Manager - District Radiology Service and the Operations Director Clinical and Operational Support Services. Its influence spans across multiple hospitals, individual specialties and clinical directorates.
As such, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to patient care by positively influencing the entire diagnostic continuum of care from home and back to home.
The position is full time spilt between the CUL position and clinical work time.
Waikato DHB Overview:
Waikato Hospital is a 650 bed tertiary referral Hospital providing secondary and tertiary health services to the Midland region. The local rural hospitals is part of Waikato DHB based on a hub and spoke model. The 4 rural hospitals Radiology service reports to Waikato Hospital Radiology.
Waikato DHB employs over 8500 people and plans, funds and provides tertiary level hospital and health services to more than 800,000 people in a region covering eight percent of New Zealand. Hamilton City has a population of approximately 200,000 people.
The DHB has close links with both the University of Auckland, including medical students on site, University of Waikato and WIntec based in Hamilton and AUT and UCOL for training of Medical radiation technician.
Waikato Hospital's Radiology Department comprises:
• 8 Conventional x-ray units (plus four mobile units and 5 mobile ll's)
• 1 Fluoroscopy unit
• 3 CT scanners on-site (4 in total across the DHB)
• Vascular & lnterventional unit
• 5 Ultrasound rooms (excluding vascular ultrasound services)
• 3 Gamma Cameras (PET-CT provided off site).
• MRI is currently provided on site by a private provider (staffed partially by Waikato Hospital Radiologists - 1.5T and 3T onsite).
The service also provides Radiologists in support of the Breast Care service.

Remuneration and Benefits:
A remuneration package will comprise of a base wage and additional allowances based on the Senior Medical and Dental Officer Multi Employee Collective agreement. Superannuation at up to 6%, an annual professional development allowance of up to $16,000, 6 weeks annual leave and 10 days professional development leave is also offered. A generous relocation package will be offered to ensure you have a smooth transition to the area.
Located on the North Island of New .Zealand in the Waikato Region, Hamilton City is home to Waikato Hospital. Hamilton attracts a rich mix of residents.
