The Christchurch Neurosurgical Unit is an accredited
training unit in Neurosurgery by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and
the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia. Our unit provides a wide range of
general neurosurgery and paediatric neurosurgery, skull base surgery, pituitary
surgery, complex spinal surgery, neurovascular surgery and a full endovascular interventional service. It has a close
association with the Department of Neurology and there is also a full range of
supporting specialties and services.
We are seeking Neurosurgeons to join us on a full time, permanent basis. In this role you would be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and there would be ample opportunity to also develop an academic component and research in conjunction with the Christchurch School of Medicine and the University of Otago.
You must be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and have a higher qualification in the specialty of Neurosurgery. It is essential you have general neurosurgery training and skills and either have, or be willing to develop, subspecialty interests and subspecialty training that will enhance the delivery of neurosurgery in Christchurch and contribute to the development of the South Island Neurosurgical Service.
