The Auckland DHB Anatomic Pathology Service (APS) based at Mt. Wellington provides community referred histology, cytology and cervical cytology (ThinPrep®) services for the greater Auckland region.
The primary function of the Data Entry Officer, Specimen Reception Department of APS is to receive laboratory specimens and forms from courier services and prepare these for distribution to the appropriate Technical department for testing. To ensure all the details and tests requested on the patient’s request form are entered correctly into the Delphic computer system ready for the Technical Departments, so that testing is reported in a timely and accurate manner.
This role also involves the handling of a large variety of Biological samples; hence you will have the courage to gracefully handle these samples as part of your responsibilities.
This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week with the shifts being made up of an afternoon to evening work (11.30 am to 8.00 pm), Monday to Friday.
The ideal candidate for this role will preferably have previous Data Entry or Medical Laboratory Specimen Reception experience, although full training is provided. Candidates with strong keyboard skills may be considered.
Your strong attention to detail, good verbal and written communication skills and well-developed interpersonal skills, alongside a strong quality-focus are paramount. You’ll have natural ability to effectively manage your time, prioritising and multi-tasking to meet the high standards of the department.
