Clinical Charge Midwife: Women's Assessment Unit

We are seeking a Clinical Charge Midwife to work in our Women’s Assessment Unit and Day Assessment Unit team. This is a great position offering excellent learning opportunities. You will have the chance to employ your primary midwifery skills and develop your skills in a tertiary setting, within the supportive environment that is WAU.
Women’s Assessment Unit (WAU)
WAU is a 15 bed unit providing acute gynaecology and maternity care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. WAU is similar to a Women’s Health emergency department.
Our services include maternity assessments, both antepartum and postpartum up to six weeks, induction of labour, pregnant and non-pregnant acute gynaecological conditions, ECV clinic and a perinatal loss service for women 20 weeks and over who experience a fetal death in utero or require a termination of pregnancy for medical indications or fetal abnormality. Our team includes Midwives, Gynaecology Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Ward Clerks. The team liaise closely with the multidisciplinary team, including obstetricians and LMCs. Approximately 35 women are seen each day or 1300 women per month in WAU.
About the Role:
In this role, you will be focused on:
- Working alongside, teaching and supporting newly qualified staff
- Being the go to person for advice and support
- Help identify staff progress through relevant clinical competencies ensuring patient safety and quality delivery of care using recommended best practice.
You must be a registered midwife with at least 5 years of post-registration practice and hold a post-graduate qualification or be working towards one.
The successful candidates will role model excellent midwifery practise and work within the NZ midwifery council standards of practice and Turanga Kaupapa.
