District Nurse -Community Health Service Wellington

Contract:   Permanent full and part time available (0.8-1 FTE). 

Salary:  $89,868 to $95,340

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

There are three Distict Nurse positions avialble in Community Health Wellington, working either full time (1.0 FTE)  80 per fortnight, part time (0.8 or 0.9 FTE) 64 or 72 hours per fortnight. This Distict Nurse position would suit an experienced RN, who would like to use your skills and knowledge with more autonomy, we have a position for you in our Wellington District Nurse team.

District nursing (DN - s) is a multi-faceted role which is evolving quickly and we need compassionate, dynamic RN - s to join our supportive team.

The shifts are from 8am to 1630pm, afternoon shifts from1330 to 2200.  District Nurses have access to regular in-service training, study days and associated post-registration academic study through local institutions. The District Nurses directly contribute to service development through regular team and Service Improvement Group (SIG) meetings.

If you have previous community nursing experience or a background in palliative care/medical/wound care we would like to hear from you.  We would also be delighted to hear from nurses from other backgrounds, as we provide a solid orientation period. Police vetting is required if not currently employed by C&CDHB.

The position covers morning shifts 8am to 16.30pm, Monday to Sunday and as required. 

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

District nurses support the discharge of patients from hospital health service (HSS) into the Wellington community setting, and supports GP practice community patients. District Nurses work in the community setting with patients receiving home intervention such as intra venous therapy, palliative care, wound care, compression bandaging, Doppler assessment, medication management, stoma care, incontinence care and respiratory care, home oxygen therapy. The district nurses work with Community Health, Health Care Assistants (HCA - s) team, assessing patients who require home personal cares and then handing over the patient care to the HCA - s.

Moū - About you

This position would suit an experienced RN with a background in community, primary health or medical nursing, who would like to work in an autonomous role, specialist role that is based in the secondary health sector. 

Due to the nature of the position a full driving licence is required.
