Stoma District Nurse

Location: Ewart building Coromandel Street Newtown Wellington
Service: Community Health Service Wellington
Contract: Morning shifts 0800 to 1630, Monday to Thursday or as required.
Salary: $89,868 to $95,340 as per Community Nurse Scale pro rata for part time hour hours
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
An opportunity exists within the Wellington community team for a 0.8 FTE, Stoma district nurse. If you have stoma nursing experience, able to work collaboratively with staff and would like to work more autonomously we would like to hear from you.
District nursing (DN - s) is a multi-faceted role which is evolving quickly and we need compassionate, dynamic RN - s to join our supportive team.
The stoma district nurse works with the district nursing teams and hospital ward staff, ensuring quality stoma care is delivered within the hospital wards and in the community setting. The ideal candidate will need to prioritise effectively, appreciate the need for flexibility and be adaptable to a changing working environment.
The role will suit a registered nurse with advanced knowledge and stoma nursing experience.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse with the NZ Nursing Council.
- Previous experience in stoma nursing position and experience/interest in working in the community setting.
- Expert on the PDRP, or working towards
- Board range of experience in clinical nursing experience of at least five years.
- Able to develop and maintain relationships with other community healthcare providers.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Team player and have excellent decision making skills.
- Able to take an overview of the organisation.
The position is full time (0.8 FTE) Monday - Thursday 8am to 16.30pm or as service requires.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
The stoma district nurses support patients in the ward and community setting, working with the district nursing teams and hospital ward staff, ensuring quality stoma care is delivered within the hospital wards and in the community setting. Stoma district nurse works with stoma patient - s pre operation, post operation and then follow the patients up in the community post discharge. The stoma service is a very busy service working within the HSS and in the community setting with unplanned stoma surgery, planned ileostomies, colostomies, urostomy. The stoma nurse works with newborn stoma babies in the HHS neonatal unit and works within private hospital, surgical stoma patients. The stoma service has patients transferring into Capital Coast Te Whatu Ora from other Te Whatu Ora areas who require ongoing stoma supplies and assessment.
Moū - About you
This position would suit an experienced RN with a background in community, primary health or medical , surgical nursing, who would like to work in an autonomous role, specialist role that is based in the secondary health sector.
