Clinical Nurse Educator: Orthopaedics and Urology

Are you interested in working within the orthopaedic and urology ward at Wellington hospital?

Are you dynamic and enthusiastic?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as Nurse Educator (part-time, permanent). The Nurse Educator will be an expert in educational delivery, facilitation of education by specialists and assessing the educational needs of the nursing team. This role is critical in ensuring and maintaining essential nursing standards and leading the implementation of nursing education, change and skill development in a multi-specialty ward. The majority of the work will take place on morning shifts, Monday to Friday, however it is expected that each NE will be available to work in the afternoon, night and weekend shifts from time to time to ensure the educational requirements of staff working those shifts are met.

You will be responsible for providing leadership in the clinical environment and to bring about practice improvements

You will provide ongoing support for the nursing team with their PDRP progression and help the nursing team to maintain essential core nursing skills and develop area related specialty skills.

Ward 6 North is a 36 bed multi-specialty ward. This service provides care for patients from both Orthopaedics and Urology specialties. Ward 6 North is a supportive team who are friendly and welcoming. On our ward, we have Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Senior Nurses and Health Care Assistants who work collaboratively to provide the best health outcomes for patients. Our team are passionate and knowledgeable, who are committed to giving our patients the best experience during their journey.  We are supportive and encouraging of our staffs learning and professional development opportunities.

Moū - About you

The ideal candidate will already have:

  • Registration with NZ Nursing Council
  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Current NZ Work visa
  • Surgical nursing experience (preference will be given to candidates with orthopaedic and/or urology experience) 
  • Post Graduate Nursing qualification (or working towards this)
  • Qualification in adult teaching/learning or willingness to undertake same 
  • Leadership skills
  • Change management skills
