Salary: $68,371 - $85,992 pro rata
Kōrero mō te tūranga ' About the role
Capital and Coast is expanding its High Risk Foot service team to meet the increasing demand within the Capital Coast region. We are seeking experienced podiatrists with the skills and knowledge to provide evidence based best practice for the assessment and treatment of the management of complex high risk foot wounds and foot disease.
The podiatrist will work within a small team of podiatrists to provide assessment and treatment of active high risk foot wounds in both outpatient clinics and inpatient settings across the three CCDHB sites ' Kenepuru Hospital, Kapiti Health Centre and Wellington Regional Hospital. The caseload will include active foot wounds and foot disease, primarily from diabetes and vascular complications.
The podiatry team operates within the Outpatient Hand therapy, Physiotherapy and Podiatry team within ORA (Older Adults, Rehabilitation & Allied Health) Services and consults and liaises closely with Vascular, Diabetes, Renal, Wound specialist nurse and District nursing services. Podiatrists also a part of a regular Diabetic foot vascular MDT clinic working alongside vascular surgeons, diabetes consultants, wound specialist nurses, vascular nurses, microbiologists and orthotists to improve patient outcomes and reduce amputation rates within the high risk foot population.

The Podiatry team sits within the Outpatient Hand therapy, Physiotherapy and Podiatry team within ORA (Older Adults, Rehabilitation & Allied Health) Services. The wider outpatient team includes hand therapists with an occupational therapy background and physiotherapists working in haemophilia, hand therapy, pelvic health, respiratory and musculoskeletal specialties. Our team aims to deliver excellence as part of a team of highly skilled, highly motivated and supportive outpatient clinicians. Experienced podiatrists in this team will be involved in clinical based audits, research and DHB projects. We offer on-going opportunities for professional development and supervision.
Moū ' About you
- 3 years of clinical experience preferred (new and recent graduates are encouraged to apply - appropriate support and mentoring to develop skills and experience will be provided)
- Experience in a high risk foot setting with skills in wound care and assessment of the high risk foot (desirable)
- Podiatry Board of NZ registered with current Annual practicing certificate
- NZ citizen, permanent resident, current working visa
- Membership Wounds society of NZ and NZSDD ( desirable)
- Experience in multi-disciplinary setting ( desirable)
- Strong communication skills
- Team player
- Motivated to be part of audits, research projects and working to end of scope through up to date evidence based best practice
