Service: Adult Community Mental Health Team
Contract: Full time, 40 hours per week on a 2:2 Roster- plus On-call. Hours of work include 15.00 to 23.30 Monday – Friday and on-call from 23.30 to 08.00. Saturday/Sunday & Public Holidays AM 08.00 to 16.30, PM 15.00 to 23.30 plus On-call.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Wairarapa Adult Community Mental Health Team provides a 24/7 service and has a number of functions including Intake & Triage, Crisis, Crisis Respite, Case management and Crisis after-hours for Adults aged 18 and over and Older people. After-hours respond to anyone needing a crisis intervention and follow-up of people within the service and respite.
The role is for the After-hours Crisis function to respond to people who present with urgent mental health needs and distress, and to provide support and oversite to people admitted to crisis respite.
Between the hours of 15.30 -23.30 Mon-Fri you will be based on site for easy response to the Emergency Department, Police Station, and Crisis Respite and also on site Saturday/Sunday and Public holidays between the hours of 08.00 to 23.30. From 23.30-08.00 Mon/sun On-call will be from your home. You will need to live in the Wairarapa to respond to emergency services within an hour from your home.
We welcome interest in these positions from registered mental health clinicians (e.g. Social Work, Occupational Therapist, or Registered Nurse) with adult mental health experience.
We are looking for experienced clinicians with experience of working within the mental health sector and who can undertake the training for the duties of a Duly Authorised Officer. You will work as part of our multi-disciplinary team that works as a community based service.
Applicants will be able to provide comprehensive mental health assessments and develop clear crisis plans for ongoing treatment and follow-up with clients and their Whanau
We have strong links to regional specialty services and psychiatric inpatient units to support our local service provision.
