Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We have some fantastic opportunities for dynamic Psychologists to join the teams at The Henry Rongomau Bennett Centre. There is one permanent full time position available working across our forensic in-patient wards and another permanent part time position working across our adult mental health in-patient wards.
Key responsibilities of the roles:
- Provide comprehensive psychological assessments including psychometric evaluations, risk assessments, court reports and therapeutic interventions.
- Develop collaborative holistic treatment plans and provide individual and group therapy in collaboration with other disciplines.
- Develop well informed psychological formulations based on comprehensive assessments.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of contemporary correctional concepts, principles, and practices relevant to psychological assessment and treatments within a forensic setting.
- Provide clinical supervision, consultation and advice to the multidisciplinary team.

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
- Registration with the new Zealand Psychologists Board with scope of practice.
- Supports the pursuit of Māori health gains as well as achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori.
- Supportive of tangata whenua/mana whenua led change to deliver mana motuhake and Māori self-determination in the design, delivery and monitoring of health care.
- Supports Māori oversight and ownership of decision-making processes necessary to achieve Māori health equity.
- Support the expression of hauora Māori models of care and mātauranga Māori.
- Knowledge of and experience working with tāngata whaiora in mental health settings or corrections facilities.
