Right now, we - re looking for Cardiac Sonographer to join our medical investigations unit based at Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury/Timaru Hospital.  The successful candidate will be part of a small team responsible for the in-patient and outpatient echocardiography service alongside our cardiologist, also supporting a visiting cardiology service from Christchurch.

Day to day the role comprises of quality 2D transthoracic echocardiograms with the ability to troubleshoot any unexpected issues as well as liaising with others if any concerns. Experience in 3D transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography would be advantageous as well as global longitudinal strain assessment.

You will be registered with the NZMRT Board, hold a current APC, and you'll be a positive and friendly, flexible team player with a sense of humour.  We will also consider applications from graduates who are waiting on their registration.

To succeed in this role, you will have;

  • A sound knowledge of Cardiac Sonography and a high level of clinical competency and safe practice
  • Great communication skills and able to collaborate with a range of services
  • A commitment to continuing your own professional development in addition to the advancement of the department (via information sharing, journal club etc.)
