Right now, we - re looking for Registered and Enrolled Nurses to join our medical ward team at Timaru hospital. In this role you will have the opportunity to advance your nursing skills and knowledge base while working with a supportive, tight knit team.  You will have opportunities to advocate for the diversity of our patients - beliefs and cultures; and assisting us to deliver treatments trying different methods to support the best journey through our services for tūroro (patients) and their whānau (families).

What you will bring?

  • In addition to your positive attitude, willingness to learn and passion for providing quality healthcare, in joining our team you will bring:
  • Demonstrated assessment and reassessment skills for managing acutely unwell patients, both prior to and during treatment
  • Confident communication skills in a fast-paced, varied environment and the ability to prioritize
  • The ability to - think on your feet - , be adaptive, and problem solve
  • An empathetic nature, and an understanding of the importance of kindness and sincerity in patient care
  • A willingness to learn, in a collaborative team environment
  • An open mind, and respect for our diverse community, their background, and how we incorporate this into our patient centered care approach

Te Whatu Ora - South Canterbury

On July 1 2022 New Zealand - s health system became known as Te Whatu Ora.  This service manages all health services including hospital and specialist services, and primary and community care, across New Zealand. Te Whatu Ora - South Canterbury is the local district where Timaru Hospital is located and will deliver these services to the district - s population.
