Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are welcoming applications for a Specialist Anaesthetist (SMO) to join the Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki. Our team currently comprises of 27 specialist anaesthetists, 1 fellow and 7 registrars.
The department supports a range of clinical services including anaesthesia, peri-operative and pain medicine, and intensive care. The Department has a strong commitment to excellence in clinical, education, quality, and research activities, and has a significant interest in development of processes of care.

Moū - About you
We are looking for someone that:
- Has a positive, enthusiastic, team-orientated personality with a strong interest in innovation and development of services and models of care.
- Is patient-focused in the provision of high quality clinical care.
- Will facilitate and promote a co-operative, multi-disciplinary team approach to all aspects of the service
- Will contribute to and value teaching/training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Will be actively involved in and supportive of research activities within the department.
- Maximises the efficient use of Te Whatu Ora Taranaki Health resources, to provide optimum care to all patients
- Contributes to audit and other departmental maintenance of standards processes
- Exhibit behaviours that demonstrate respect for colleagues and facilitate good communication within the department and with other departments.
- Participates in the afterhours on-call roster.
