Mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for experienced Otolaryngologists who are transformational leaders; providing clinical expertise to deliver quality care for our region. Southland Hospital is one of the newest hospital's in the South Island of New Zealand, providing modern and easily accessible facilities for staff and patients alone. We are a base hospital covering a wide geographical area therefore creating an enormous scope for variety in the work of a talented professional like you.
In this role, you will assist with the education and supervision of surgical staff and medical students. As the ENT practitioner on site at Southland Hospital, you will be supported by the clinical leader and colleagues from Dunedin Hospital, who are also undertaking clinics at Southland Hospital. You will see the full range of patients in this role and perform a variety of procedures such as endoscopic sinus surgery, middle ear surgery, facial skin cancer surgery and paediatric ENT procedures, all major head & neck surgery is currently carried out at Dunedin Hospital.

We are affiliated with the University of Otago Medical School and Southland Hospital provides training to registrars, so you'll need to be someone who is enthusiastic about teaching and passing on your knowledge to junior members of staff. You must have completed your specialist training to make you eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You will also need the following:
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings

Salary range
This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between the Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980 per annum pro rata)
