Patient Transfer Nurse/Paramedic

Mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking to recruit a Paramedic, or an experienced Nurse for this exciting new permanent position providing support to patients transferring by road ambulance (and occasionally via air transport) between Southland and Dunedin. From time to time there may also be a need to transfer patients to other hospitals including Lakes and Gore Hospitals. The position will be a busy varied role, with no two days being the same. When no transfers are required you will be assisting in the inpatient areas of the hospital, including the Emergency Department. Hours of work will be 8 hour shifts Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.00am and 7.00pm. The position is 1.0 FTE but we can be flexible and will discuss a lesser FTE with suitable candidates to meet their work/life balance requirements if necessary.

Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.

Mōu ake - About you

You will have the ability to initiate and accept responsibility, work autonomously where appropriate and make sound clinical judgements within your scope of practice. Registered Nurses should have a minimum of five years' experience in medical/cardiac and surgical nursing and hold a CORE qualification. For Paramedics, we will consider either a new Graduate or more experienced Paramedic for this position. Ongoing professional support and development will be provided as part of this position. It goes without saying that you will also be an excellent team player and be able to function well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
