Allied Health Clinical Coordinator - ATR

- Assessment, Treatment, and Rehabilitation (ATR)
- Hours - five days per week, minimum 0.8 FTE (0.3 FTE leadership and at least 0.5 FTE clinical)

Join Southland Hospital's ATR (Assessment, Treatment, and Rehabilitation) Ward as an Allied Health Clinical Coordinator. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead interprofessional coordination, enhance patient care, and balance leadership with clinical practice.
About the role
As the Clinical Coordinator for the ATR Ward, you will oversee the day-to-day coordination of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and Allied Health Assistants to enable patient flow and ensure care quality. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), you'll address challenges, support team members, and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:
- supporting referral triage to ensure timely and appropriate care
- managing referrals and caseloads for consistent workload distribution
- problem-solving patient flow challenges alongside the MDT
- representing Allied Health in interprofessional forums and meetings
- coordinating leave planning and ensuring adequate staffing across the service
- providing clinical care within your scope of practice in acute settings.
This role combines leadership duties with clinical responsibilities, creating a dynamic and impactful position.
About you
Essential qualifications and skills:
- Registration with an Allied Health Professional body and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Extensive clinical experience in rehabilitation or acute care settings
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams
- Expertise in patient flow management and interprofessional collaboration
- Commitment to applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in practice and promoting equitable outcomes
Desirable attributes:
- Experience in service development and quality improvement
- Postgraduate qualifications in rehabilitation, leadership, or related fields (or working towards)
- Familiarity with hospital-based clinical coordination
You will also demonstrate the following:
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, adaptable, and problem-solving approach
- Dedication to professional growth and continuous improvement
The Allied Health Clinical Coordinator will be required to provide direct clinical care within a relevant scope of practice in the acute wards.

Salary range
This role offers a salary of $111,240 - $117,420 (pro-rata), covered by the Allied, Public Health, and Technical Single-Employer Collective Agreement.
