Mō te tūranga - About the role
- Southland Hospital has modern facilities and offers exciting opportunities
- The Southland Hospital ophthalmology department offers outpatients, elective and acute care to people in the wider Southland region, encompassing Invercargill, Queenstown, Gore, Te Anau and environs. Each year the department sees approximately 10,000 patients

- The hospital campus includes the Southland division of the Otago School of Medicine
- Supportive team based working practice (working in teams with small groups of doctors and nurses)

Mōu ake - About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
- a minimum of two years post qualification experience and are interested in RMO's keen to further develop your skills in the area of Ophthalmology and need to have Registrar experience in this field to be able to apply for the training programme.
It is requirement of the NZ Medical Council that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion. Utu whānui - Salary range
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of New Zealand Resident Doctors' Association and 20 DHB Multi Employer Collective 18 June 2024 - 31 July 2026 (NZRDA SECA) and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand and 20 District Health Boards Multi Employer Collective Agreement 14 December 2024 - 28 February 2026 (the STONZ SECA) and the salary will fall between $127,338 - $158,090dependant on relevant experience.
