About the role
Based in the Community Nursing Service, at Wakari Hospital, the role of Registered Nurse-Stomal Therapist is both busy and challenging but also extremely rewarding. The position involves providing community nursing care. Some of the key nursing tasks are: comprehensive patient assessment; symptom control and management; patient education; psychosocial assessment and support.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have a genuine interest in patients undergoing bowel surgery with excellent communication skills to educate patients and families. You will have a willingness to learn and a desire to undergo post-grad training in relation to stomal therapy.
You will demonstrate organisational skills, adaptability and flexibility within the role. Be able to prioritise and reprioritise daily tasks according to the workload, work well autonomously and within the team in this specialised service.
We're looking for a Registered Nurse with three years or more post grad experience, you will also have the following:
- A current New Zealand Registration and APC
- A professional portfolio in progress
- Strong communication skills and the ability to quickly develop a rapport with patients and their whanau/family.
- Full, clean driver's licence
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings

Salary range
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO Collective Agreement CEA, and the salary will be in accordance with the Registered Nurse Pay Scale, between Step 6 $106,739 and Step 7 $106,739 p.a dependant on relevant experience
