Mō te tūranga - About the role
- Close-knit team that consists of Specialists, Trainees, and those not yet on the training programme
- Your main responsibilities will be ensuring the acute stream of patients are seen and assessed - this enables you to become confident with a wide variety of ophthalmic conditions - the opportunities on offer are immense
- You'll also be assisting with some injections, and hopefully get some time in our new, purpose- built eye theatre, which is off site from the main hospital, but very close by
- The ability to extend your skills and knowledge base are fantastic
Mōu ake - About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
- a minimum of two years post qualification experience and are interested in RMO's keen to further develop your skills in the area of Ophthalmology and need to have Registrar experience in this field to be able to apply for the training programme.
It is requirement of the NZ Medical Council that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion. Utu whānui - Salary range
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of New Zealand Resident Doctors' Association and 20 DHB Multi Employer Collective 18 June 2024 - 31 July 2026 (NZRDA SECA) and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand and 20 District Health Boards Multi Employer Collective Agreement 14 February 2024 - 28 February 2026 (the STONZ SECA) and the salary will fall between $127,338 - $190,030 dependent on relevant experience.
