About the opportunity
Our Sexual Health Service has a permanent, part-time (16 hours per week) vacancy for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse looking to join a close-knit team.
You will be interested in advancing your nursing practice specific to sexual, reproductive and youth health. It is essential that you have the confidence to discuss a range of sensitive topics, as well as being able to provide information for all options relating to pregnancy and contraception.
It is critical that you understand and are respectful of diversity with the ability to interact with people from any background and sexual identity.
Our ideal candidate will be interested in pursuing post graduate education and advancing their scope of practice to include prescribing. You will also have experience in assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of safe and appropriate patient centred nursing.
About you
This position will best suit someone with a good sense of humour and a high level of resilience.
In order to be successful in this position, you will also need to demonstrate the following:
- Willing and able to actively participate in the after-hours sexual assault assessment and treatment care roster
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to support education of colleagues
- Self-motivated with strong time-management and organisational skills
- Confident in using and learning a range of computer systems
- Able to work independently, problem-solve and use your initiative
Ideally, you will bring to this role previous experience working in sexual health and/or youth health and have completed MEDSAC training.
